Brigadier-General Jason Adair OMM, CD joined 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) in 2000 and served as a Platoon Commander on Operation Apollo (Afghanistan). Posted to 2 PPCLI in 2004, he served as a Company Second-in-Command, Adjutant, Operations Officer and Company Commander, deploying twice to Afghanistan and to Whistler during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
After attending the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Brigadier-General Adair served at the Canadian Expeditionary Forces Command as the Staff Officer to the Commander and then, J5 Middle East. In 2012 he deployed to United States Central Command, serving as an embedded operational planner.
In 2013, Brigadier-General Adair became the Chief of Staff of the 1st Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (CMBG) before commanding 3 PPCLI from 2014 to 2016. Thereafter, he was seconded to the Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat of the Government of Canada’s Privy Council Office. Promoted to Colonel in 2017, he served as the Special Advisor to the Minister of National Defence before commanding 2 CMBG from 2018 to 2020.
After completing the National Security Program in 2021, he served as the Director of Programmes at the Canadian Forces College and later as the Director of Strategic Development at the Strategic Joint Staff. Promoted to Brigadier-General in 2024, he served as the Chief of the NATO Security Assistance and Training Ukraine (NSATU) Forward Liaison Officer Element from August 2024 to July 2025.
Brigadier-General Adair currently serves as Director-General Continental Defence at the Canadian Joint Operations Command.
Brigadier-General Adair has an undergraduate degree from the Royal Military College, a master’s degree in Defence Studies from the Marine Corps University and a master’s degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
