Henrik Refshauge Sommer is a retired Brigadier General with over four decades of distinguished service in the Danish Army and international defense organizations. Currently serving as Director of Defence Operations at Systematic A/S, Henrik leads innovation in defense technology, specializing in operational insight and digital transformation within the land domain.

His military career spans from commanding mechanized infantry and tank battalions to strategic leadership roles in NATO, UN, and coalition operations. Henrik has held key positions including Deputy Chief of Staff Operations for the Danish Army, Chief of Current Operations in Iraq, and Chief J5 Projects at ISAF Headquarters in Afghanistan. He has also served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Capabilities Engineering and Innovation at NATO?s Allied Command Transformation, where he spearheaded initiatives in autonomy, artificial intelligence, robotics, and big data.

Henrik’s expertise includes joint operational planning, defense capability development, and multinational coordination. He has taught tactics at the Army Military Academy, led doctrine and concept development for NATO, and directed research and testing for the Danish Army’s combat systems.
