Mehmet Akif Morkaya is a retired Turkish Army OF-5. Between 1994 and 2019, he undertook a variety of national and international staff and command duties. In the last three years before his retirement, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff Plans and the Political Advisor of HQ NRDC-Türkiye, simultaneously with his roles as Joint EVAL Team Lead and Joint Evaluator (Operations Assessment Subject Matter Expert-OPSA SME) for SHAPE. Since 2020, Mr. MORKAYA’s principal engagements have been as the Director of International Business Development at CNK Global Consultancy, the SME of Multi Domain Operations-Land supporting HQ JWC, and a Member/Mentor of the System Analysis and Studies Panel (SAS-192) for the Science & Technology Organization (STO). He is the author of the book “European Union Managerial Military Capacity and an Indefinite Negotiation Chapter: Common Foreign, Security, and Defense Policy,” published in 2014. He is a native speaker of Turkish, fluent in English, has advanced knowledge of Spanish, French, and Italian, and possesses basic skills (writing and reading) in Russian.
